TTT: New To Me Authors I Read For the First Time in 2016!

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'll be participating in Top Ten Tuesday. TTT is hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week our topic was "Ten Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read For the First Time in 2016!"

The author's name will be linked to their goodreads page! :)

10) Josephine Angelini
This year I read Trial by Fire! It is the first book in Angelini's Worldwalker trilogy. I really enjoyed Trial by Fire; I had a couple issues here and there, but I will be continuing on!

9) Susan Dennard
I also read Truthwitch by Susan Dennard this year! It did pretty well setting up the characters and world. I just posted my review of this!

 8) C.L. Wilson
C.L. Wilson's The Winter King was fabulous. It is one of my favorite books of the year. The world was set up well, and the characters were great. They had amazing chemistry and I didn't want to stop reading.

7) Amanda Bouchet
Amanda Bouchet's debut novel A Promise of Fire took me by surprise. I saw great reviews for it, but I didn't think it would be one of my favorite books of the year. It was though! I also read the sequel through Netgalley, and I can safely say the series is amazing.

6) Jennifer Donnelly
I read two books by Donnelly this year, Deep Blue and Rogue Wave. They are the first two books in Donnelly's Waterfire Saga. I'm really looking forward to reading the third and fourth books next year!

5) Nicole Williams
I read Williams' new adult trilogy this year and liked it! I had some underlying issues with the whole entire trilogy, but I did enjoy it in the end.

4) Victoria Schwab
Schwab is such a well loved author and I am patting myself on the back for finally reading one of her books! This year I read A Darker Shade of Magic. I didn't love it, but I did have a blast! I'm planning on reading the rest of the trilogy in 2017.

3) Estelle Maskame
This year, I read two books by Maskame: Did I Mention I Love You? and Did I Mention I Need You? This contemporary trilogy is quick, fun, and surprisingly sexy! The last book in the trilogy is actually released today, so I might go out and buy it!

2) Kass Morgan
If you don't know, I am a huge fan of The 100 TV show. I was feeling some withdrawal from the series when I started reading the books that the series is based off of. The two definitely have their differences, but it was entertaining nonetheless! I do have to say that I like the TV series more.

1) Sara B. Larson
I picked up Larson's Defy trilogy on a whim this year. I actually didn't like the first book that much, but I continued the series and ended up loving the last one! I'm very much looking forward to Larson's 2017 release.

What were some new authors to you that you read this year?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

    1. I absolutely adore the 100! My favorite season has to be the second. They're really different. It was interesting to see how they diverge. You definitely should. :) Thanks for visiting Greg!

  5. I am SO glad that you tried Wilson's and Bouchet's books! The Winter King is my all-time favorite adult romance novel. =) I love Dennard's books! Angelini's are hit-or-miss for me. Schwab is good choice. Have you read This Savage Song? You should try it!

New authors to me (besides a ton of 2016 debut authors) - Kami Garcia (loved The Lovely Reckless), Brodi Ashton (adored Diplomatic Immunity), S.J. Kincaid (woah The Diabolic was so good).

    Great post, Genni! =)

    1. I have had the urge to reread all three this week! Thinking about them just makes me want to pick them up again! :) I haven't read This Savage Song, but I've heard amazing things about it. Plus, I like the idea of no romance. There's not enough platonic relationships in YA!

I really want to read The Lovely Reckless. I've read three of her books with Margaret Stohl, but I lost interest in the series. I'm planning (hoping, really!) to read The Diabolic before the years end! Fingers crossed!

Thanks Alyssa! Have a great rest of your week. :)

  7. I'll have to click over and check out your review of Truthwitch, but I really must recommend her first series, Something Strange and Deadly!! It's one of my faves! I haven't read the Waterfire series but I did love her debut historical, Revolution. This is a great list!

    1. I've heard good things about her first series, but there are so many books that I want to read that it gets lost in the crowd. :( I'll look into it again though! I had no idea that Donnelly had a historical book! I just opened goodreads to look for it. :) Thanks!
