Waiting on Wednesday #16

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! This week I will be participating in Waiting on Wednesday. WoW is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. Every week we showcase upcoming releases that we are excited about. Tressa @ Wishful Endings has recently taken lead in this meme, considering Jill hasn't been posting on for a while. Learn more here!

This week I chose We Are Okay by Nina Lacour!
"You go through life thinking there’s so much you need. . . . Until you leave with only your phone, your wallet, and a picture of your mother."

Marin hasn’t spoken to anyone from her old life since the day she left everything behind. No one knows the truth about those final weeks. Not even her best friend Mabel. But even thousands of miles away from the California coast, at college in New York, Marin still feels the pull of the life and tragedy she’s tried to outrun. Now, months later, alone in an emptied dorm for winter break, Marin waits. Mabel is coming to visit and Marin will be forced to face everything that’s been left unsaid and finally confront the loneliness that has made a home in her heart.

Why I'm Waiting

I'm a big fan of Nina LaCour! I've loved all of her books (Hold Still, Everything Leads to You, The Disenchantments), so I have high hopes for this. The synopsis reminds me a bit of Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson without the whole scavenger hunt thing. This seems like it will be pretty hard-hitting, and I am up for it! I think LaCour does a great job with heavy subjects, and learning to take responsibility is one of those. Plus, the cover?? AMAZING! I love the contrast between the pink and blue as well as how the character is looking off into the distance on her bed. It reminds me of how people have so many dreams but are always grounded to one place.

Are you looking forward to We Are Okay?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

    1. I can't wait to see your thoughts! Everything Leads to You is (I think) my favorite of hers, but I don't want to say for sure since it's been a while since I've read her books. Thanks for visiting Lauren!

  5. The only Nina LaCour book I've read is Hold Still, and I still remember how that book packed a powerful emotional punch. I hadn't actually read the summary for We Are Okay until now, but it does sound really intriguing. :)
