Waiting on Wednesday #31

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! This week I will be participating in Waiting on Wednesday. WoW is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. Every week we showcase upcoming releases that we are excited about. Tressa @ Wishful Endings has recently taken lead in this meme, considering Jill hasn't been posting on for a while. Learn more here!

This week I chose The Evaporation of Sofi Snow by Mary Weber!

Ever since the Delonese ice-planet arrived eleven years ago, Sofi's dreams have been vivid. Alien. In a system where Earth's corporations rule in place of governments and the humanoid race orbiting the moon are allies, her only constant has been her younger brother, Shilo. As an online gamer, Sofi battles behind the scenes of Earth's Fantasy Fighting arena where Shilo is forced to compete in a mix of real and virtual blood sport. But when a bomb takes out a quarter of the arena, Sofi's the only one who believes Shilo survived. She has dreams of him. And she's convinced he's been taken to the ice-planet.

Except no one but ambassadors are allowed there.

For Miguel, Earth's charming young playboy, the games are of a different sort. As Ambassador to the Delonese, his career has been built on trading secrets and seduction. Until the Fantasy Fight's bomb goes off. Now the tables have turned and he's a target for blackmail. The game is simple: Help the blackmailers, or lose more than anyone can fathom, or Earth can afford.

I saw this on someone else's WoW and they completely sold me. I love the idea of humanoid aliens, political intrigue, and possibly dead brothers. Plus, it doesn't hurt that the cover is very eye-catching! I've seen some five star reviews and some two star reviews, but I still have high hopes.

Are you looking forward to The Evaporation of Sofi Snow? Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post. :)

Happy Reading!

  4. So I got the chance to read this one.. and it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.
I hope that you like it more than I did if you get around to reading it. I've heard others say good things about it.

    1. I saw your review right before this went up! I did lower my expectations a bit after reading it so I wouldn't be disappointed. :) Thanks for stopping by Aneta!

  5. Every time I see this book's cover, I smile a little, because the title is so weird to me. I do like the cover. This is not something for me but I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it!

Have a wonderful weekend, Genni. =)

    1. I do agree, the title is pretty peculiar! It draws me in though, because it's not just another YA sci fi fantasy title! Thanks Alyssa! Have a wonderful weekend as well. :)
