Waiting on Wednesday #53

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'll be participating in WoW! Waiting on Wednesday is now handled by Tressa @ Wishful Endings. If you see posts with the name Can't Wait Wednesday, they're the same thing.

Today, I'll be showcasing Save the Date by Morgan Maston!
Father of the Bride meets Sixteen Candles in the latest novel from New York Times bestselling author Morgan Matson.

Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.

There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.

There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.

Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.

Why I'm Waiting
Let's take a look at Morgan Matson's books that I've read: Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, Since You've Been Gone, and The Unexpected Everything. I've given all three of those books five stars. I see a trend, and I'm wouldn't be surprised if Save the Date would be another five star read. Though I'm not *thrilled* with the whole wedding plot, there's a very good chance that I'll enjoy myself while reading this!

Are you looking forward to Save the Date? What's your favorite Matson book?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

  2. This seems such a cute contemporary. The Unexpected Everything has been on my bookshelf for a while now. Maybe I should pick up very soon since I keep hearing wonderful things about Morgan Matson's novels.

    Happy readings! ;)

    1. Ooh I hope you do Tania! I think The Unexpected Everything is my favorite of hers, but I haven't read Second Chance Summer and that sounds amazing.

      You too! :D

  3. The wedding setting would not normally be my go-to setting either, but the part of the blurb that says "part Sixteen Candles and part Father of the Bride" caught my eye quickly!

    1. That little blurb didn't sell me! I guess it has to deal with the fact that I've seen neither! One day! XD

  4. I love Matson and this blurb mentions Sixteen Candles, which essentially defined my teen years, and of course I was to read it.
