participating in Top Ten Tuesday. This weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week our topic is " Top Ten Best Books Of 2016." Since I am going to be doing a later post about my all around favorites of 2016, I am going to be showing all of you my favorite contemporary books I read this year! Throughout 2016, I got a lot more into fantasy, but I still love some good old contemporary!
None of these are in particular order, and not all of these are young adult! The books with links to them are links to my reviews.
10) The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Morgan Matson has not once disappointed me with her contemporary novels. I know that this book was most people's least favorite of hers, but this is actually my favorite! The relationships were so well done and I loved how raw everything felt. This book cemented Matson as one of my favorite YA contemporary authors.
9) The Sound of Us by Julie Hammerle
If I had two words to describe Hammerle's debut novel they would be quirky and fun. Kiki, the main character, was so hilarious. I really loved reading from her POV, which made up for the romance, which was just a tad lackluster. The ending was so well done, and I'm Hammerle is on my radar!
8) The Replacement Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts
I was completely taken aback by The Replacement Crush! It looked cute enough, but I never expected that I would love it. I connected a lot with the main character, and the romance was great. It gave me that anxious 'I can't wait till they get together' feeling.
7) Too Late by Colleen Hoover
If I had one word to describe Too Late, it would be fun. This isn't run of the mill Hoover book. It's darker and sexier. The only thing that I didn't really like was the epilogue. The ending was really great and humorous, but then Hoover dragged out the story for another two epilogues. Besides that, Too Late was a blast to read.
6) Come Back to Me by Mila Gray
This book has to be one of my biggest surprises this year. I read the e-book in a day, and I just couldn't stop reading. I loved the relationships, both family and romantic, in this! They weren't perfect, but they were realistic.
5) The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This has to be one of my favorite books by J. Law! I saw a handful of bad reviews for this by people I regularly follow, and I was so happy that I loved this! In fact, I actually bought the hardcover of this, and that is saying something since I rarely buy books.
4) November 9 by Colleen Hoover
Even though Hoover is one of my favorite authors, I was a bit hesitant to read this. I heard mixed reviews for this, but I thankfully really enjoyed it. I did have a couple of issues here and there, but the pros outweighed the cons.
3) Keeping Her Secret by Sarah Nicolas
I had zero expectations for Keeping Her Secret, but I was pleasantly surprised! The book has a pretty simple plot and Nicolas executed it very well. I haven't read a lot of F/F romances, and this was a breath of fresh air.
2) It Ends with Us by Colleen HooverI mean, Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors. So far, she has done no wrong. This was definitely a hard novel to read. I think it was very well done and important to read, but I also don't know if I could ever read it again. It was so hard to read at times because it was so real.
1) Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame
With a title like this one it has, I didn't have high expectations at all. In fact, they were pretty low. However, DIMILY took me by surprise and completely sold me. I absolutely adored the sequel; I actually liked it more! I am eagerly anticipating reading the final book in 2017.
