Book Traveling Thursdays: Giving Book

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni and today I will be participating in the weekly meme Book Traveling Thursdays, where we show off different editions of a novel that fits with the theme given.

The prompt of this week is: December is a month of giving. Choose a book in which a character gives an amazing gift to a loved one! This week I decided to feature my current read, The City of Fallen Angels. Though I oviously have not read this whole entire book, a main character in the last book, City of Glass, gave a great gift to another main character in the series. The former gave the latter a gift that saved their life. In the City of Fallen Angels features the aftermath of such actions. Sorry this is SUPER vague, but I don't want to spoil anything for those who aren't as far along in the series as I am.

Original/English Edition

 These three are all the English editions! Yes, there are definitely more that have the sticker that says "now made into a major motion picture" but here are the main three. The first one if the newly released paperback edition. These released earlier this year and unfortunately, City of Fallen Angels is my least favorite cover out of all of them. I don't know why I don't like this one as much as the others (which I really love!), but something is making it fall flat. Maybe it's because Isabelle's whip doesn't look as badass as I imagined?On the right is the most well known cover. At first, i din't really like these editions of the series, but they are really growing on me. Clary's eyes do freak me out, but I really like it overall. The last one is definitely not as well known but I really like it. I actually did not know these editions even existed until a month or two ago, but the simplicity of it draws me in. There are really cool details in the wings as well!

Favorite

My favorite has to be the original one up above. Like I said before, I never really liked these versions of the cover, but this just draws me in! The color scheme is done really well and whenever I look at the book, I just want to pick it up and read it!

Least Favorite

Okay, there are several covers I didn't like, but these stood out in the worst way possible. I am not drawn to the book but have the feeling of wanting to distance myself instead. The edition of the left is the Italian cover while the one on the right is the other. The Italian cover makes zero sense to me. I'm assuming that is meant to be Isabelle, but it doesn't give off the fun and kick-ass vibe the series is! I have the same opinion for the one on the right. It looks so unprofessional and I just hate the obvious use of photoshop and the calligraphy makes the book seem amateur.

Book Traveling Thursdays: Favorite Retelling

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'm participating the weekly meme Book Traveling Thursdays. Each week we showcase a book that fits with the theme for the week. This meme was created by Catia over at The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle at Danielle's Book Blog.

This week we show our favorite retelling! The book I picked for this week is one I read a really long time ago when I was getting back into reading. I remember picking it up because of its stunning cover. I just recently did a Top 5 Wednesday post about retellings, so check it out here if you want! This isn't necessarily a favorite retelling of mine, but it is one of the first YA retellings I read when getting back into the genre.

Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce!

English Cover/ Original Cover

This is the original cover and the one that I own. I love this cover because of the two separate images you can see on it. The cover is also really accurate to the story as well, since it follows two sisters that fight against werewolves. You know a book cover is good if it compels you to buy it, and that is exactly what this one made me do a couple of years back!



Favorite Cover

 I find this edition just as stunning as the first one I showed. The reflection of the girl is really cool and they look almost identical, save the scar on the cheek of the bottom one, which is an infliction a character in the book has! This cover portrays the story really well, it's just more subtle than the first. I love the details in this cover and if I were a book collector, I would be ordering this one from the book depository! Also, this is a Thai edition, which I haven't seen yet since doing this weekly meme!


Least Favorite

It is no surprise that I do not like the German cover. They just don't seem to ever get it right! Though the cover isn't horrendous, it pales in comparison to the other editions out there. You can get an idea of the plot from this cover, but it just makes the book seem like another cookie cutter paranormal novel. Can't we have some originality instead of two girls running in the cliche fog-ridden woods? Lame.

Book Traveling Thursday: Diverse Book

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni and today I am participating in one of my favorite weekly memes, Book Traveling Thursdays. The goal is to pick a book that goes along with the theme given and showcase some of our favorite and least favorite cover editions of that book. This is a weekly meme hosted by Catia at The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle at Shelfies Above Selfies!

This week the theme was a diverse book. This could be taken many ways. A novel could be diverse because it has a diverse cast of characters, has a main character that is of different ethnicity or race that what is common, or features a character or more in the LGBTQ+ area. There are a ton of areas that a novel could be diverse, but I picked a book I (kind of) recently read with a racially diverse character.


That book is....

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon! This novel was a debut novel of 2015 and I absolutely adored it. Maddy, the main character, is racially diverse because she is Afro Asian and not your stereotypical white girl. To be quite honest, I don't remember the last time I have read a novel that had either an Asian or African American main character, let alone a combination of both. That definitely needs to change!

Modern Greek Cover

This cover is beautiful. It was the very first thing that truly stood out when I heard this book and drew me in to reading it. Even when I showed the book to my friends, who don't read that often, they commented on how stunning the cover was as well. I love the use of negative space on the second half of the cover. To me, this cover speaks to me and draws me into the story. I feel like it accurately represents the story as well, because Maddy is literally allergic to everything.

Favorite
Besides the original English cover, I completely love are all the covers that look similar to the original! Every edition has different illustrations, and it is so much fun to inspect them! Other than those three, I also like the Spanish version. The saying says, "Is it true that love changes everything?" The quote fits so well with the book and while it isn't my absolute favorite, I still really like it!

Least Favorite

My least favorite definitely has to be the Czech edition of the book. It has a completely different feel than the other covers and I don't really see how this edition pertains AT ALL to the storyline. If I saw this cover next to the English one, or any others for that matter, I would think that they were two completely different books.

Book Traveling Thursday: A Book You're Thankful For

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'm participating in the weekly meme Book Traveling Thursdays hosted by Danielle at Shelfies Above Selfies and Catia at The Girl Who Read Too Much!

This is one of my favorite weekly memes that I just started. Basically, we show a book that pertains to the subject for each week and the covers from all over the world of that book. Because it is Thanksgiving today, we're doing showcasing a book that we are thankful for! I did a post like this on Tuesday, where I listed the top ten books I'm thankful for this year! Go check it out here!

Today I am choosing....

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover! This is one of my favorite books of this year and I am so thankful I found this when I did! Colleen Hoover's writing is so addicting and reading the novel was such a great experience!

English Covers

I like both of these covers! The one of the left is my favorite out of all of these and the most commonly found. I think it completely enraptures the whole enitre story! The cover on the right is alright. I feel like it is a pretty standard cover, and I don't really feel like it captures the essence of the story. But overall, it is okay. Not great, but fine. I definitely like the cover on the left more. It's my favorite and I'm glad I own that version!

 Favorite

This edition is the Polish one! Instead of using the top left cover as my favorite, I decided to pick anther cover that I liked. It's not as good as the first, but something just immediately just draws me into this cover. The color scheme is great and I like the pose of the cover model as well. I don't really know why I like this cover so much, I just do! If I were able to collect books, I would be buying this one. 

                      Least Favorite

Both of these novels are my least favorite out of all the editions. The one to the left is Indonesian while the one of the right is German. I don't really like the one of the left because it isn't an accurate representation of the book at all. It just makes the book look angsty and juvenile. The one of the right also makes Sydney, the main character in the novel, look weak while in the novel, she is a strong female character. The cover also gives off vibes from the original Delirium cover by Lauren Oliver. 


Overall, there were more covers that I anticipated to liking. Even the my least favorite ones aren't that bad! What books are you thankful for? Book Traveling Thursdays: Book That Deals With War

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I'm going to be joining in on the weekly meme hosted by Danielle at Shelfies Above Selfies and Catia at The Girl Who Read Too Much.

The idea of this meme is to choose a book that has the characteristic the mods choose and show the original cover and the book from your country. Next, you show your favorite edition of the book, excluding the original one. After all that, you show your least favorite edition.

Today's theme is a book that deals with war because peace day was two days ago!

I picked Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi! I chose this book because while it is not necessarily war ridden, the book definitely is not peaceful! There are several tense relationships in this and battles do occur throughout the series.

                  English Covers

I don't necessarily like this cover on the left, but it is the most well known. Some people really love it, but I just don't like people on the covers that much. The second one is a whole other story! It's absolutely love this cover and the color scheme. I like the person on this cover because the person isn't completely exposed so it leaves an aura of mystery. 

Favorite

My favorite is for sure this one! It is absolutely stunning and I just love it. I don't really know why I like it so much, I just do! The typography is really nice and so is the catch line to draw people in. The people aren't real, so I don't mind it. Bonus points that it is an accurate representation of the characters and how they look also!

Least Favorite

Okay, people on covers rarely work but when they do, the outcome is amazing. All three of these are failed attempts. I think my least favorite of these three is the Russian one. While it shows a dome, which is correct to the books, it just looks really cheesy. The girl on the cover looks really strange and it doesn't really give off the feeling of the novel. The Hungarian edition is also pretty bad. I hate the whole entire pose Aria is doing here. Like who actually stands like that? It looks so forced. As for the Dutch cover, it doesn't accurately represent the book at all. If I were to see this cover, I would have thought that the book is sci fi. 

Those are my choices for the day! I had a lot of fun doing this post and was surprised at the variations of covers! Did you guys like this and should I do more?
