Waiting on Wednesday #11

Hey everyone and happy New Year! To kick things off this year, I will be participating in Waiting on Wednesday. WoW is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. Every week we showcase upcoming releases that we are excited about.

This month I picked Poison's Kiss by Breeana Shields!

Here's some stats:
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 304
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Expected Publication Date: January 10, 2017
A teenage assassin kills with a single kiss until she is ordered to kill the one boy she loves. This commercial YA fantasy is romantic and addictive—like a poison kiss—and will thrill fans of Sarah J. Maas and Victoria Aveyard.

Marinda has kissed dozens of boys. They all die afterward. It's a miserable life, but being a visha kanya—a poison maiden—is what she was created to do. Marinda serves the Raja by dispatching his enemies with only her lips as a weapon.

Until now, the men she was ordered to kiss have been strangers, enemies of the kingdom. Then she receives orders to kiss Deven, a boy she knows too well to be convinced he needs to die. She begins to question who she's really working for. And that is a thread that, once pulled, will unravel more than she can afford to lose.

This rich, surprising, and accessible debut is based in Indian folklore and delivers a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Why I'm Waiting

I just love this whole premise! I'm a sucker for YA fantasy; it has become my favorite genre. I like the idea that this girl can kill anyone she kills. It is bound to make the romance really interesting! Plus, I absolutely love political intrigue and this seems to have a chockful! I'm remaining hopeful about this one. The reviews from those who got that ARC are all really positive, so I have pretty high expectations.

Are you looking forward to Poison's Kiss?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

    1. Aw that's such a bummer! They must have been extremely selective then. You have over 2,000 subscribers so I have no idea what they're looking for! haha :) You're welcome!

  5. I'm curious about this book but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to read it! I'm always hesitant about books involving Indian culture/"mythology" because usually authors (especially white ones, such as this one) get a long of things wrong. *says an Indian person* We'll see though. I hope you enjoy this one, Genni! =)

    1. I can see why you're hesitant! I always hate it when cultures are misrepresented or stereotyped, but I'm sure I miss certain things quite a lot! Unfortunately, the school system doesn't do a good job about being inclusive of all cultures. Thanks Alyssa! Hopefully the author did a good job representing the culture. :)

  8. I'm wondering how this one will turn out - it kind of sounds like The Sin Eater's Daughter.
