Vote for What Wattpad Book Should I Read!

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog! So I'm in the mood for some trashy (and cringe-y) romances, but don't want to buy any books and I'm unfamiliar with the romance collection at my library. So, I decided to try my luck with wattpad!

I have years of experience with wattpad, resulting in a love/hate relationship. There are times when I just want to read fast-paced (possibly bad) books, and whenever I do, I download wattpad. However, I haven't actually had much luck with any of the books I have read. While they are entertaining, I haven't found a wattpad book that I have sincerely enjoyed for about two years. In hopes of having better luck, so I decided to let you decide what I should read. Before I list the choices, here are the books I have read on wattapad before.

So to make this fun, I have two different lists:
  1. Books that I genuinely think I would like/sound good
  2. Books with the funniest/weirdest title or premise
In order to make this more interactive, you will have the opportunity to vote for what I will read. Whatever book gets the most votes for each list by the end of the month, I will read for June!

Book Review: The Dead List by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Dead List was so addicting and fun!

I can never get enough of Jennifer L. Armentrout! She seems to show up every single month in my wrap ups and January will be no exception. The Dead List is actually a free online read on the website Wattpad! I've read a plethora of books from the wattpad app, and while there have been plenty I have really liked, there were others that were complete misses for me. However, I had high hopes for this one because I am so familiar with Jennifer L. Armentrout.

The Dead List is a contemporary thriller that follows our main character Ella after she is almost murdered. I haven't read much thriller or watched much for that matter, so unlike for some people, this was a breath of fresh air. There were some parts of the book that had a very Scream like vibe, but besides that I didn't mind the book not being as original compared to her other books.

The Dead List was so much fun to read. It wasn't without it's faults, but the story and the characters carried it through for me. I was more interested in the plot than the characters because they didn't stand out for me. Ella is a classic character that is beautiful without really knowing and has several guys pining after her. Jensen, the love interest, is the classic jock (ex jock in this novel) that is a bit mysterious and a lot misunderstood. Though they were cookie cutter characters, their actions and what happened to them were not.

Throughout the novel there are two different stories being told that intertwine with each other. While the storyline of the serial killer that attempted to murder Ella was the primary story, the secondary one was just as interesting. I love how they were connected with each other and it kept me on my toes. While I was guessing who the murderer was right along with the other readers on the wattpad app, the big reveal did take me by surprise.

I really loved the romance of this book. While it was a bit predictable, the dialogue between the two sold it for me. What I love about all the relationships that Jennifer L. Arementrout writes about is how swoon worthy and intriguing they are. The idea that Jensen and Ella used to be best friends that grew apart because of a tragic accident kept me wondering what exactly had happened.

Though The Dead List does get some criticism for its lack of originality, I enjoyed it as a whole. The plot intrigued me the whole entire time I was reading it and there was no dull point in my reading experience. If you are new to the app or thinking about getting it, I would recommend this one. The romance was cute and at times sexy, with the story achieving its goal of being thrilling.

With that, I give this book

4 out of 5 Stars!

Have you read any of Jennifer L. Arementrout's books? What was your favorite?

Thanks guys for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Wattpad Reviews! (Part 2)

Since the first Wattpad Review, I have read six others. To be quite honest, I think I binge read Wattpad stories. I didn't read anything from Wattpad for a good three weeks, and all of a sudden September rolled around and I felt the need to check out some stories. Out of the six, I'll be mentioning only five, because I was indifferent to one of them and don't have much to say about it. Let's get on to it!

1.) The Cell Phone Swap by Lindsey Summers
Keep in mind the author's username for the app is DoNotMicrowave, so if you type in the name above, you might not find the book!

I was pleasantly surprised by The Cell Phone Swap! I didn't know much going into the book and to be honest, the cover is what made me click on it and start reading. The plot centers around a girl Keeley and how she mistakenly swaps phones with Talon, and arrogant and sex driven teenager. There's this big reveal about halfway through that was done really well, but after that there was a lot of drama that was unneeded in my opinion. Both Talon and Keeley kept on fighting the same fight over and over again, which got on my nerves. Overall though, the book was a lot of fun and kept me on my toes while reading it. Though I liked the first half way more than the second, I would still recommend this to read if you're looking for a quality read on the app!

3.5 Stars

2.) My Brother's Best Friend by KnightsRachel

My Brother's Best Friend is a story that centers around my guilty pleasure plot. Emily has just moved in with her twin once coming back from rehab and it met with the unexpected when she learns that she has another roommate, Parker. I really loved the writing style of the book, but I didn't really like the two main characters that much. Emily frustrated me often throughout the book because she would make snap judgments of people, more specifically girls that would hang around Parker. Like in The Cell Phone Swap, there was tons of unnecessary drama. However, I still liked this book. It was just short of three stars, but it was worth the read. The epilogue at the end was almost perfect.

2.75 Stars

3.) In 27 Days by HonorintheRain

In 27 Days blew me away. As you can tell from the ratings, this and Touch Me Not were my favorites of the five. This novel centers around our main character Hadley. In the beginning of the book, we learn that a person in her school, Archer Morales, had committed suicide. Hadley is surprised by the news but even more shocked when Death himself pays her a visit and gives her a chance to save his life. Needless to say, I could not stop reading this book! It was so good and on par with a lot of the young adult novels out there. The climactic scene of this is off the charts and if I were to have read this when it was only being updated and I had to wait for the next chapter, I would have died with anticipation! In 27 Days is a must read for any wattpad users who like the YA genre.

4 Stars

4.) Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker
Apryl Baker's username in the app is AprylBaker7.

After having such a great experience with In 27 Days, I wanted to read something that was completely different. That turned out to be Touch Me Not. This novel centers around Lily, a bookworm who is known around campus to be the go to tutor and who happens to have a phobia of physical contact. Nikoli, the bad boy of campus, is intrigued by Lily. Soon enough the strike up a deal that will not only try to help Lily with her phobia but Nikoli and his sleeping around. Touch Me Not was such an addicting read and delved into deep topics and handled itself really well. The novel was fun and steamy, and I could not put it down for the life of me. I applaud the author. She didn't just make me care for the characters, she made me root for them as if they were real life people. I'll definitely be picking up more of her stuff. Keep in mind this is more new adult than young adult, so there are some more graphic scenes than you would see in your typical young adult novel.

4 Stars

5.) Bon Bons to Yoga Pants by Katie Cross
The author's username is also different, and is under KatieCross4.

I just finished Bon Bons to Yoga Pants just today, and I didn't mean to. I only just gotten into the double digits chapters of this 55 part story. To say that this novel is addicting is an understatement. Cross's writing immediately pulled me in and even though I sometimes got really annoyed with the main character, I could not put it down. Bon Bons to Yoga Pants is a chick lit novel about Lexie Greene's journey to lose weight in preparation for her little sister's wedding and to impress Bradley, who she messages with on Facebook. Though she starts for the wrong reasons, Lexie really grows as a character and her story was truly inspiring. This is exactly what chick lit should be.

3.65 Stars

As I'm sure you can tell, I enjoyed these a lot more than the first four I picked up. I've noticed that I am more drawn to books that are not only contemporary, but are different than most Young Adult books I have read. Yes, there are a lot of bad boy contemporaries and the sort, but there are also a lot of unique contemporaries with concepts that I have not seen published. For me, I like those stories a bit more just because their nothing like I've ever read. I'm really hitting my groove with wattpad, but like I said before, I am going to take a break for a little bit. If you are looking for your next read, maybe take these into consideration! You can find me on Wattpad here!

Wattpad Reviews! (Part 1)

Just over a week ago, I discovered an app that made me stop everything and read hours straight. This app is Wattpad, and I couldn't put down the stories that I picked up. Wattpad is an app that has free novels that are unpublished. Since August 2, I have read four novels so far. I'm going to be doing these Wattpad reviews periodically after I've read a number of them on the app. Let's get started!

The first novel I read, Boot Camp, has actually been my favorite so far.  The book follows a teenage girl, Whitney, and her time spent at a fitness camp in order to feel more confident about herself. Over time, she develops feelings for her personal trainer, Axel, who is closed off and secretive. The reason that I enjoyed this as much as I did was because Whitney developed so much as a character. In the exposition, she was a teenage girl who wasn't happy with her life and had extremely low self esteem. At the end, Whitney is so much more confident in herself and has straightened out her life. I did get annoyed at times about how the only thing holding Axel and Whitney were themselves. There were also times where the pacing was all over the place, but it was easy to overlook. Overall, I did have a great time reading Boot Camp, and its apparent since I read this in less than 24 hours! I'm definitely recommending this novel to anyone who is looking for a light contemporary. It's an authentic summer read, and I really enjoyed it. I give this one 3.75 Stars!

After Boot Camp, I picked up Forever and Always, Olive. This novel has the classic good girl meets bad boy young adult trope. I have a weakness for these stories, and it will be evident in the next two books I mention as well. Olive is sent to her aunt's house after her parents are fed up with her partying ways. For her junior year, she must live with her aunt and cousin. Olive is dared to ask bad boy Maddox to homecoming, and the novel takes off from there. Just like Boot Camp, I ate up this novel; I couldn't put it down! Though it was cliche, it was such a quick read. If you're looking for a light read, I would recommend this. Don't be too critical, though! Forever and Always, Olive does have its faults. Once again, I was frustrated at how long it took for the two characters to be together, and it seemed as if the author didn't have the story planned when she wrote it. I do like how she interacted with readers and based her story off what they wanted, but it seemed as if she herself didn't really know how the story would end. I did like this one, but it was just okay for me. Yes, it was interesting and I couldn't put it down, but I did get really agitated with the story since it seemed dragged out to me. My favorite aspect of the novel were the characters. All of them had a good back story and really grew, and I appreciated that. The characters, both major and minor, felt authentic and real and I couldn't  help but root for them as the story progressed. With that, I give this novel 3 Stars!

The third and fourth books I read on Wattpad were once again good girl falls for bad boy novels. Unfortunately, I did not like these as much. In Despicable Arrogance, Audrey is forced to work with the one boy she truly hates, Grayson Carter. Though the story was compelling, I couldn't connect with Audrey at all. Her voice was juvenile and not at all how I would think in her situation. I loved the build up of her and Grayson, but there were times when she got so jealous over the littlest thing. If a girl even looked at Grayson the wrong way, Audrey wanted to slap her. I found that really unprecedented since her and Grayson did not have any relationship or friendship for that matter until the about a third of the way through the book. Though it was a quick read, I just got really annoyed at Audrey and wished she was more mature. The fourth and final novel I read was Playing Hard to Get. This novel follows Jessica and the consequences that ensue when her family takes in bad boy Matt into their house until he gets back onto his feet. My main issue is that the book was so short and the characters never seemed full fledged at all. The characters never really got a good backbone nor back story. For that reason, I couldn't connect with the characters like I wanted to. In fact, I liked reading about the secondary characters more than the primary ones. I give Despicable Arrogance 2.5 Stars  and Playing Hard to Get 2 Stars. They weren't bad per say, but I would not recommend them to you either. They were quick reads, and I could see why people loved their stories.

Hope you guys liked this! I'm going to take a break from Wattpad stories for now. When I open the app up again, I'm going to try to look for more versatile stories that aren't just about bad boys. Tell me if you've read any of these before! I definitely recommend Boot Camp for you guys if you're interested in the app at all but don't know what to read. There are also some novels that have actually been published, such as My Life with the Walter Boys. The novel is still up on the app, but I'm assuming some changes have been made between the published and unpublished version.

Thanks for checking out my blog!! You can also find me on goodreads here! Comment down below on what your favorite Wattpad read is and I'll add it to my library.

Hope you have a good day and happy reading!
