Liebster Award Part 1!

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I've brought some exciting news - I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Lauren @ Always Me! She's a great blogger who is very original in her posts. Make sure to check her out. :D I was actually nominated just before the end of the year but didn't see the comment until now. Shameful, I know!

So the great thing about the Liebster Award is that it is a great way to discover 11 bloggers and learn more about your fellow bloggers in the community!

Here's the Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.
2. Answer the 11 questions the nominator has given you.
3. Tag 11 bloggers who have less than 1000 readers.
4. Think of 11 questions to ask the bloggers you have nominated.
5. Let them know you've nominated them through social media or their blog.

Here's Lauren's Questions:

1. How do you organize your bookshelves?
I actually organize my books by color! However, I need to do an unhaul because it's getting kind of crazy in my room.

2. You've been tasked to rewrite a book, which book would it be and why?
This is such a hard question! There's a couple books that I don't like that I wouldn't rewrite because I see the reasoning of what had happened. I think I'll go with Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. I was a hardcore shipper of not only Reeve & Lillia, but Alex and Kat as well! I was just so disappointed with the ending and even reading the posts where the authors explained their decisions didn't help me either.

3. What 2016 book release are you most excited for?
Okay, there are so many releases I am looking forward to this year! But after reading Illuminae and LOVING it, the question was how could I not pick Gemina! I have high expectations to say the least. :D

4. What group of fictional friends would you like to share a lunch table with?
So many hard questions! I kind of did a post about this earlier on my blog about 5 Character's I'd Like to Spend a Snow Day With. Taking from that, I'd have to choose the cast from Fruits Basket! They're such a big and eccentric bunch and I know I'd have so much fun.

5. If you could recast any classic tv show with modern actors, what show would you choose and what modern actors would you select?
My favorite classic TV show has to be Golden Girls. There are some great comedic women in Hollywood, but guys - I am in LOVE with the girls on SNL. Especially Leslie Jones. Can she be the new Blanche?

6. If you could see any musical group, past or present, which would you want to see and what song would you like to here them perform?
My favorite music would have to be from the early 1960s. I could listen to it all day long! My favorite three songs are You Don't Own Me by Leslie Gore (talk about a feminist ballad!), Runaround Sue by Dion, and What a Wonderful World by Sam Cooke and also the song by Louis Armstrong with the same name.

7. Which hyped book were you most thrilled by?
This might be a weird pick, but The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It's such a staple novel  in my childhood and even then Shel Silverstein was hyped up. If I were to choose an author that would define my childhood, it would be Shel Silverstein.

8. Which hyped book were you most disappointed by?
I'm going to change it up a bit and actually mention a book that I was really disappointed by that I didn't hate. That would be Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry. McGarry was a great author to start into the YA genre with, but she doesn't really appeal to me anymore and the book fell flat.

9.  What's a book that you love, but isn't very well known?
One of my favorite books from last year was Every Last Promise by Kristin Halbrook. It definitely needs more love for handling such a hard hitting topic so well.

10. What social media website do you prefer?
Okay, this is going to sound so odd for an almost seventeen year old, but I don't like social media and don't really have any! This is the closest thing I have to social media besides Facebook, which I don't use. I just hate the pressure of it all and how much it takes away from what you could actually be doing.

11. What 2016 book to movie adaptation are you most excited to see?
Definitely The BFG adaption based on the childhood novel by Roald Dahl. He's another childhood author. Besides that, I would pick me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I haven't read the book yet, but plan to after seeing that trailer. It was spectacular.

My 11 Nominees!

1.) Erika @ Books, Stars, and the Pages in Between
2.) Anna @ Enchanted by YA
3.) Denise @ The Bibliolater
4.) Jo @ Book Lovers Blog
5.) Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much

7.) Kate @ The Bookaholic Blurbs
8.) Lola @ Lola's Reviews
9.) Ana @ Read Me Away
10.) Ashleigh @ A Frolic Through Fiction
11.) Sara @ Freadom Library

My Questions
1.) If you had to choose one author/book that would define your childhood reading, what would it be?

2.) What is a book, series, or author do you see as a reason why you are still reading?

3.) What is your favorite part about blogging?

4.) Do you have a guilty pleasure book/author? If so, who?

5.) What is the best book you have read so far in 2016?

6.) What are some of your favorite book to movie adaptation?

7.) What is one book that you would recommend to (almost) everyone?

8.) Which do you prefer: standalone or series?

9.) Where and when do you do most of your reading?

10.) Why did you start blogging?

11.) What is your favorite genre (doesn't need to be limited to YA)?

So that was the Liebster Award! I want to thank Lauren again for nominating me! I'm SO sorry I didn't get around to it until now! I hope you guys discovered some great blogs. :D

Happy Reading!

  1. That's awesome you organize your bookshelves by colour! It always sounds so cool, but I think this is the first time I heard of someone who actually did that. I heard good things about Illuminae, but not sure if it's a book for me.
It's always a shame when you enjoyed an author her books and then like one of her recent books not so much anymore. I haven't read that series by Katie McGarry yet, but I did really enjoy Pushing the Limits when i read it a few years back.
Thanks for the tag! I am not sure if I will get around to doing the tag, but I do really appreciate it!

    1. Thanks Lola! :D The bookshelves were really hard to do (there are so many grays and not enough color!), but it was so much fun. I completely understand how Illuminae isn't everyone's cup of tea. The format doesn't seem to appeal to everyone.
I feel like the Pushing the Limits series was a great intro into young adult for me, but I'm just not as invested anymore.
      You're welcome! And that's fine! :D

  2. I absolutely loved Illuminae too. The format, cover, and just EVERYTHING about it was genius. I'm dying to get my hands on Gemina! *grabby hands*

    1. I wholeheartedly agree. The whole entire way that novel was made took so much effort! They're so beautiful! <3 I CANNOT wait! I'm ready for some for intergalactic but kicking!

      Thanks for visiting Cari! :D

  4. Congrats on being nominated! And thanks for nominating me. :) I appreciate it. I like the idea of sorting by color- I haven't done that but I can see where that would be fun to do, and all the similarly colored books would look good together! And I agree about Gemina- after reading Illuminae I'm looking forward to that one. And I love that it's going to take place on the space station we hear about in Illuminae. Yay!

  7. I can't wait for Gemina either after finishing Illuminae! My expectations are sky high! :)

I like your picks for a new Golden Girls - the women on SNL are great and I think they could make the characters their own.

I can't every remember Silverstein being hyped up, exactly, but I do love his work. Classics!

I have high hopes for The BFG - I love that story. I'm also really looking forward to the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children adaption.

Thanks for the shout out, Genni!

    1. Mine are too! Fingers crossed that I won't be disappointed.

I do as well! Their skits are so inventive and their comedy really thrives off each other.

I think it was more like my environment and family hyped it up. He was really big at my school!

I'm thinking of actually rereading the book, because I haven't read it in a long time. I actually haven't read Miss Peregrine's! *heads hold in shame!* How did you like it?

You're welcome! Thanks for tagging me. :D
