I have to shout of the lovely Lauren from Always Me! She was the blogger that tagged me and every one of you should check her out. She is the best!
Reading on the bed, or on the couch?
I definitely read on the couch more! I'm that reader who always tosses and turns when I try reading in my bed.
Male, or female main character?
To be honest, I don't have a preference. YA normally has female main characters though, so I read more about female main characters.
Sweet, or salty snacks while reading?
Salty! I absolutely love salty snacks. Just a couple weeks ago I was obsessed with cheese pretzels. <3
Trilogies, or quartets?
Once again, I don't really have a preference as long as it is done well. But if I had to choose between a trilogy or quartet and I didn't know anything about the plot, I would choose quartet, and I don't know why.
First-person, or third-person POVs?
I like first person more. I feel that I can connect to the characters a lot more and that is a key aspect to my reading experience. I don't mind third person, but it's hard to feel for the characters as much as i do with first person.
Reading at night, or in the morning?
Is afternoon an option? I do most of my reading in the afternoon to night because I'm either running late or sleeping in the morning. :D
Bookstores, or libraries?
Fun fact about me: I'm cheap. If I can get a book at a library, I will read it from there and then buy it if I loved it. Definitely libraries.
Books that make you laugh, or cry?
I would say a book that makes me laugh. I don't go into books looking to cry or laugh, but it impresses me more if I laugh out loud while reading. I'm an easy crier and it doesn't take much!
Black, or white book covers?
White I guess! I really like negative space in book covers, so I would have to go with white. Also, there are way to many black covers.
Character, or plot-driven stories?
I'll have to steal Lauren's answer and say both! The perfect book not only has characters that I fall in love with, but a world as well.

Genni @ Ready, Set, Read!
I love this tag! Such a cute post. Genni, love your answers! I actually think I'm more into character-driven stories nowadays - I can't keep reading if I don't love (or love to hate) the characters :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Annika! :D Good point! If I don't like the characters, I can't really read the story, but the same goes for the plot as well. :)Thanks for visiting!
DeleteGreat picks, Genni, and thanks for the shout out!
ReplyDeleteCheese pretzels sound delicious right about now...yum!
I know exactly what you mean about being cheap - I don't often buy brand new books at full price unless I have a gift card or coupons or something. :)
Thanks Lauren! And you're welcome. :D
DeleteI kind of went crazy about a month ago with them... I'm trying to wean off now. :)
Glad to know I'm not the only one. I just can't see myself buying a book for 20 bucks!
Thanks so much for the tag, Genni!
ReplyDeleteI'd pick quartets as well! I don't know why but a vast majority of the trilogies I read suffer from middle-book syndrome (where the middle book has pretty much no plot or development and is just used to get the characters from point A to point B) but in quartets it seems to happen a lot less often. Of course, that could also be because I've read fewer quartets! I'm really cheap too and I'll only buy a book if it's completely necessary that I read it and it isn't available at any of the libraries I have connections with or it's a book I've read and loved and want my own copy of it so I can read it over and over again :)
Laura @BlueEyeBooks
You're welcome Laura! :)
DeleteI've realized that too! Middle book syndrome is the worst! I really like duologies as well, but sometimes the characters don't seem as developed as they are in trilogies, quartets, or larger series in general. If there is anyway I can get the book without buying it, I'll try to!
Thanks for visiting Laura! :D
I have so much fun reading these tags! I am the same way with my library! I usually get a book there, and then buy it if the library doesn't have it or if I loved it. Great post! :)
ReplyDeleteWe do the same thing then! I only buy a book if my library doesn't have it or if I loved it soo much I need to buy it. Thanks so much! Also, thanks for visiting. I followed you. :D
DeleteThanks for the tag, this seems fun! <3
ReplyDeleteI don't even have a couch (& never have) so it's automatically bed for me haha. Also, who doesn't love libraries? Free books are the BEST. I used to buy books all the time but then I bought this one book & I read it and hated it. It ended up being a total waste of money so now libraries are magical places to me. :D ((I also never found out what to do with that book, it's just dusting up somewhere on my shelf - whoops? Haha)
You're welcome!
DeleteWell I guess not having a couch makes the decision easy! I love my library! They also have an online feature, so I can get so many of the books i like on my phone or nook! It's amazing. <3 Sorry you had a bad experience to make you turn to libraries!
Great answers, thanks for tagging me! I think a lot of mine will be different to yours (e.g. I like to read in bed in the evening unless I find something else that needs to be done immediately which I forgot about ahah) but I have to agree that stories which are a combination of character and plot driven are my favourites :D

Thanks Anna! I'm looking forward to seeing how your answers are different! :D I try not to do anything in my bed except sleep or else it's really hard for me to go to bed.
