Meeting Alwyn Hamilton!

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! So I just found this post in the drafts of my blog and realized that I never posted it. Unfortunately, I can't find the pictures I had of me and Alwyn. So here is my post, months late! Sorry!


Just an hour ago I was talking to Alwyn Hamilton, the author of Rebel of the Sands, which just came out on the first of March! Rebel of the Sands was one of my most anticipated reads, and I had such an amazing experience.

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite 2016 Releases So Far!

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday, a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Today's topic are our favorite 2016 releases so far. To be honest, I had a hard time finding a good amount of books for this post. So Top Ten Tuesday is Top Five Tuesday for me. I just read what I want to, so half or more of what I read isn't a book published this year. Needless to say, there are only five books that I have read this year that were published in 2016 and that I would wholeheartedly recommend. 

Cover Talk: The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Guys. This cover is amazing!!

It is by far one of my favorite covers this year, and it doesn't hurt that I love the title of the novel as well. I love everything based in astronomy, so the title grabs my attention.  I absolutely adored Everything, Everything when I read it last year and I hope that this one does not disappoint. So far, the only synopsis the book has is this: "in which two teens cross paths on an eventful day in each of their lives." 

Besides that, there's no other news. It does say that it is being published this year, but not when. In my opinion, the most alluring thing about this book has to be the cover.  I love the threads and how the always intersect, much like the two teens will in this novel, I presume. 

The only thing that throws me off is the color scheme of this book. I'm thinking that this will be released later in the year just because there is no release date. As you can obviously see, the cover has a lot of warm and vibrant colors to it, which isn't necessarily common for a fall/winter release. I guess that will make the book stand out!

By far my favorite thing about the cover is the use of negative space in order to read the title. If you didn't know this, (I think I mentioned it in my last cover talk.) negative space is one of my favorite things to see on covers. It just makes the cover stand out so much and gives it a simple look to it. The threads give off this fun teenage vibe that Everything, Everything also had.

Nicola Yoon has a great design team. The cover of Everything, Everything is also magnificent and was my favorite cover of last year. I don't know which one I love more!

Antcipated Spring 2016 Releases!

Happy first day of spring everybody! Today I will be highlighting some books that are coming out this spring! I won't be necessarily reading these this year, but I do want to read them eventually and they are on my to-read list on goodreads.

Keep in mind Spring starts on March 20th and ends on June 19th, so I'll only be listing books from there! There are a lot of books that were published in the beginning of March that didn't make the cut off!  I'll be splitting this up into two sections: books that I will be reading for sure, and a tentative TBR.

For Sure

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass

Even though my initial thoughts of love might of had to do with the hype surrounding this book, I am still really interested  to see where the plot takes us! Rhysand seems like such a complex character, and I'm looking forward to spending more time with him. 

The Crown by Kiera Cass

Even though Kiera Cass' writing style might not be my favorite, I am still eagerly anticipating this concluding novel to her Selection series. I can't wait to see what happens to Eadlyn and who she picks to marry! 

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

I'm about to start reading The Sword of Summer, and even though this is in a different series, I am itching to read some Rick Riordan. Plus, who doesn't want to read about Apollo and him become mortal? Sign me up! 

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

I don't really know much about this book, but it's Morgan Matson! Since You've Been Gone, another of her novels, was the perfect summer read. I'll definitely be reading this one once school ends! 

Let the Wind Rise by Shannon Messenger

Let the Wind Rise is the concluding novel in Messenger's paranormal trilogy. Even though it has been so long since the second book came out, but I do remember loving it! I'll probably have to reread some parts of the books, but the last book left on such a cliffhanger.

 

 

Tentative

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

The Winner's Kiss is the last book in Rutkoski's Winner's Trilogy. I absolutely adore the first book in the series, and the only reason this is tentative to read this year is because I haven't read the second book yet! 

The Glittering Court by Richelle Meade

This is yet another book that I don't know too much about. The Glittering Court is the first book in Mead's new series. I haven't finished reading the Vampire Academy series, but I love her writing style so much. I see myself finishing her first series before I read this one though.  

Flawed by Cecilia Ahern

I haven't heard too much buzz for Flawed, but I am getting more into the dystopian genre again. The synopsis itself is pretty vague, but I am interested to see what this novel will bring. If my library gets it in stock, then I'll read it.  

The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I am such an Armentrout fan. I can't get enough of her addicting writing and her quick paced plots. I haven't read much contemporary from her (only one!), so I am SO excited to read it! The excerpt I read of this was phenomenal. The only reason this is on the tentative list is because my library might not have it. I'll probably have to buy the book.  

Heir to the Sky by Amanda Sun

Guys. This synopsis is amazing! It sounds so inventive and the cover is stunning. The rating on goodreads aren't the highest, but that won't really phase me. Hopefully my local library will buy it!

Cover Talk: The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The cover just recently dropped for Jennifer L. Armentrout's upcoming release. and it is beautiful!

I absolutely adore this cover! In comparison to Jennifer L. Armentrout's other book covers, this is a masterpiece. All of her covers are cheesy and kind of cringe worthy to cart around in public, particularity the Lux series. I didn't have any expectations for this cover but I am astounded at how good this cover turned out. I really love the whole entire water color aspect and typography. The colors make the book really stand out and I can't wait to this on the shelves!

I have read an excerpt of this book, and boy am I excited for it! I don't know too much about this upcoming novel except that it is a young adult contemporary following a girl, Mallory, that is entering public school after being home schooled for quite a while. She is starting her senior year and has major problems with talking and is socially awkward. From the excerpt, I think something life altering happened to our main character that made her the way she is. Mallory likes anonymity and being just another face in the crowd, but her plan doesn't come into fruition because a guy she knows from her past, Rider, is in her class. I have really high expectations for this and I cannot wait! I have only read one other young adult contemporary by Jennifer L. Armentrout, The Dead List, but haven't read her others like Don't Look Back. However, I am familiar with her new adult contemporary, so I already know that I will like this one! Fingers crossed I'll even love it!

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2016

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni and today I'll be participating in the weekly meme Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely ladies of The Broke and the Bookish. Be sure to check them out if you haven't already.

Top Ten Tuesday is a pretty easy meme to participate in. We are given a prompt that we answer with ten books that apply to us. This week's topic is our most anticipated releases for the first half of 2016. There are some amazing books coming out in the first half of the year, let alone 2016 as a whole! These are in order of release date!

Rescued by Pheobe Rose - January 15, 2016
This might come out of nowhere, but I wanted to add at least one new adult novel into this list! New adult is one of my favorite genres because I get sucked into the story line so quickly, and based on thy synopsis, I'm expecting the same. I first heard about this on my friend Poulami's blog  Daydreaming Books, and I trust her opinion! She really liked it, and hopefully I will to. Plus, it has cute cats! What more could a girl ask for? I'm personally a dog person, but still!

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer - February 2, 2016
While the Lunar Chronicles concluded with Winter, which I read in November, Stars Above is a compilation of short stories in the same universe. There are nine short stories and five of them have never been published. I love the world of the series and can't wait to dive back into it!

Starflight by Melissa Landers - February 2, 2016
If a book has to deal with space and star-crossed romances, count me in! Starflight has both of these things including an author that I trust. I've read two of Landers's other books and I know that I'll have so much fun reading this book! The synopsis sounds right up my alley and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy! Firstlife by Gena Showalter - February 23, 2016
Gena Showalter is known for her adult romances, but writes young adult as well. She wrote The White Rabbit Chronicles, which is one of my favorite young adult paranormal series I have read so far. Firstlife has this great premise about how there are two afterlifes you can choose once you die. I read a sample of this and was drawn right into the story.

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski - March 29, 2016
The Winner's Kiss is the highly anticipated concluding novel in the Winner's trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. Granted, I have not read the second book (It will be the next one I read after my current read!), but I'm still looking forward to this one. I'm sure that a lot of other bloggers will have this book on their list as well.

Surge by Melissa West - April 5, 2016
Surge is actually a full novel that takes place before the the already released Taking trilogy by West. I finished the trilogy this year and was so pleased with how it ended. When I heard that a prequel novel was going to happen, I was ecstatic! I've always wondered about how everything happened, and I'm so happy to know that I will!

Let the Wind Rise by Shannon Messenger - April 26, 2016
Let the Wind Rise is the concluding novel to the Sky Fall trilogy. I read and loved the first two books and though I am upset by the cover change (they still look good, so it's all right!), I am hoping that they story is marvelous and does not fall flat. I do feel like I need a little refresher before reading this last novel, but I am still excited to see how everything is wrapped up.

A Court of Mist and Fury - May 3rd, 2016
Back when I read A Court of Thorns and Roses, the first book in this trilogy, I absolutely adored it. Now that I have had time to think about it, I do see some issues I have with the book. Still, I'm excited to see how the story progresses! The ending was really amazing and I want to see how Feyre deals with what she did.

The Crown by Kiera Cass - May 3rd, 2016
After four novels, The Crown finally concludes the Selection series. While initially a trilogy, the fourth novel was released in 2015 and followed Maxon and the winner's daughter and her selection. Though I don't love this series by any means, the plots are always pure fun and I am thrilled to see who Eadlyn picks for marriage.

The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout - May 17, 2016
Yet again another contemporary on the list! This edged it's way in after I read an excerpt of the book after reading Every Last Breath, the concluding novel to her Dark Elements Trilogy, via my digital library. From what I take on the excerpt and synopsis, the novel follows Mallory "Mouse" Dodge in her first year back in public high school in time for her senior year. Mouse doesn't talk often and is anxious about talking for some unknown reason, and her first day becomes even more interesting when she bumps into Rider, a boy from her past. Needless to say, I am itching to get my hands on this book!

Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard - February 11, 2016
A novel that features hopefully healthy friendships! Imagine that in young adult!


The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury - February 23, 2016
This is a retelling of Aladdin where the genie falls in love with Aladdin instead. Jessica Khoury has been on my radar for quite a while, so I have high hopes!


My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows - June 7th, 2016
A book about Lady Jane Grey, who was historically beheaded? Count me in!

Top Ten Tuesday: 2016 Novels I'm Looking Forward To!

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I am partcipating in the weekly meme Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Be sure to check them out here on their website! Today's theme was top ten debut novels we are looking forward to! I changed it up a bit and just did my most anticipated 2016 reads, not debuts. Here's my list! It was so hard doing just ten, so there is are two honorable mentions. Four of these don't have their final covers, but I'm sure they'll be amazing!

 10.) Heartless by Marissa Meyer
 Heartless is a standalone prequel novel about the Queen of Red Hearts in Alice in Wonderland and how she got so horrible. Is it bad to say I'm looking forward to her corruption? Because I am. A lot! Also, if it is Marissa Meyer, there is a really good chance I'm going to LOVE this book!

9.) The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
Okay, don't kill me, but I still haven't read The Winner's Crime. It's been sitting in my room for months now and I've renewed it too many times to count from the library. I did the same with the Winner's Curse, and it is all because I'm nervous it won't live up to the hype. I do want to be able read to this once it comes out though!

8.) Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
A short story collection in a world of one of my favorite series? YES! I'll for sure be getting this one and reading it in 2016.

7.) The Crown by Kiera Cass
It's not that I love the Selection series by Keira Cass, but more like I need to know what happens and who Eadlyn ends up with.

6.) Starflight by Melissa Landers
Starflight just sounds like all around space junkie fun. Melissa Landers wrote the Alienated series, and while it isn't my favorite, I had so much fun reading the books and it was a great experience.

5.)The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
Jessica Khoury has been on my radar for a while now because she writes science fiction, but the Forbidden Wish might be the one I actually read. Also, that cover. SO PRETTYYYY.
4.) My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand
Way back in the beginning of 2015, I went to one of Cynthia Hand's signing and she was talking about his book and it sounds like so much fun! She sold me completely on it!

3.) Let the Wind Rise by Shannon Messenger
Even though the series had a cover change, *cries*I'm still highly anticipating this concluding novel of one of my favorite YA paranormal series!
2.) A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
This wasn't on my list to begin with because the more I think about A Court of Thorns and Roses, the more problems I have with it. (I first gave it a glowing review, which you can find here) Needless to say, I will be continuing on with the series because I'm curious.

1.) Surge by Melissa West
Okay, Surge is a prequel full length novel to a series that I just finished earlier this month. (Check out my review here!) When I heard this news, I was so happy! I've always wondered about the origin story of Melissa West's Taking trilogy, and now I'll know! *happy dance*

Honorable Mentions

United by Melissa Landers
United is the final book in the Alienated trilogy! At first, there was some questions on if it would be a duology or trilogy, but I'm so happy we get a third book!

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

C.J. Redwine wrote the Defiance trilogy, which I concluded this year. I really loved the last two books, so I'm excited to see how this one goes! It sounds really amazing. Find my reviews of Deception and Deliverance, the last two books in her other trilogy, here and here !

Here's hoping that by the time the end of 2016 rolls around, I would have read these novels!
