TTT: Sci-Fi Books I've Added to My TBR

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'll be participating in Top Ten Tuesday. TTT is hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week our topic was "Ten Books I've Added To My To-Be-Read List Lately." If you didn't know, I'm participating in Sci-Fi month. Because of this, I'm going to put a little science fiction twist on this post.

These are the ten science fiction books I've recently added to my TBR:

10.) Paper Girls Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan
To be honest, I don't actually know what this is about. It is very well loved, and I do own the first volume! I'm planning on reading it this weekend! In the synopsis it says that "Suburban drama and otherworldly mysteries collide", so count me in!

9.) Mila 2.0by Debra Driza
I'm actually reading this right now! I've seen Mila 2.0 several times, but I just put it on my tbr a month or so ago before I started reading it. Mila thinks she is a normal teenage girl, but she's actually a cyborg meant to be used as a weapon for the government. Plus, there's this cute boy that Mila likes. I am enjoying the book so far, but not loving it. It hasn't gripped me the way I wanted yet.

8.) Bionic by Suzanne Weyn
Bionic is a new release that hasn't gotten much buzz. It released in late October, but only has 17 ratings. Besides that, Bionic is about Mira, a girl who has to undergo experimental procedures that give her innovative prosthetics and chips in her brain after a horrific car accident. This sounds so interesting to me and seems to really pose the question of what makes us human.

7.) Crater by Homer Hickam
Crater is a science fiction novel that follows Crater Trueblood as a loyal miner who undertakes a dangerous mission when he saves the life of another. What makes this science fiction? Crater lives on the moon, and mines Helium-3, a raw material able to produce energy for a futuristic and dystopian Earth. I was just getting into this a couple weeks ago, but had to return it to my library before I finished.

6.) Frost by M. P. Kozlowsky
I haven't read a dystopian in quite a while, and Frost will be the one to break that! I plan on reading Frost later this month. I love the idea that Frost travels with her robot servant, who has her father's consciousness uploaded in it, to some mysterious land. It seems like a really fun and quick read.

5.) Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
I've been wanting to read Sleeping Giants ever since it's synopsis was released. When Rosie falls through the earth, she wakes up to glowing walls and intricate carvings. The fireman find her in the hand of a metal giant. This whole mystery aspect really intrigues me and I don't think I'll be able to guess the revelation! Or I hope I won't!

4.) Redshirts by John Scalzi
Redshirts is a science fiction parody of Star Trek. If that doesn't draw you in, I don't know what will. It's always known that whoever wears a red shirt when going on the away missions in Star Trek will most likely die. I love that Scalzi took this head on and made a whole entire novel out of it! It's sure to be fun.

3.) Flashfall by Jenny Moyer
Flashfall is a very recent add on to my TBR. I just read some rave reviews on it, and now I can't wait for it's release date next week! As mentioned above, I haven't read dystopian in an extremely long time. I'd like to see how I think about the sub-genre after my long break of it! Plus, the romance sounds amazing! I love a slow burn! :D

2.) The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
The Diabolic is easily on e of the most talked about YA science fiction books this year. It has huge press releases, and was just released 7 days ago (November 1). I've once again heard great things about this from my friends! I am a bit worried that I will get easily confused, but my interest outweighs my worries!

1.) Infinity by Jus Accardo
Infinity's synopsis is pretty vague, and it is drawing me in! There's this overprotected teenage girl, Kori, who is watched over the good-looking Cade, who has "a lethal secret" and a device that allows Kori to jump dimensions. To put the cherry on top, someone wants her dead. This sounds like a great multi-dimenstional game of cat and mouse that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Have you read any of the books mentioned above? I'd love to know what you thought about them!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

  1. Paper Girls I'm anxious to read too! I've heard good things. And Sleeping Giants I was a tad disappointed in, but I've seen lots of people love it so I'm in the minority I think! I hope you love it!

  2. So many good choices! I loved The Diabolic - holy guacamole, that book was good. And a standalone too! Flashfall was just as amazing but there is another book to follow. Which is great. :D

    Happy reading, Gennifer!
