Mini Reviews #4 - Mermaids, Stepsiblings, and Bounty Hunters!

Hey everyone!! Long time no see! It's been quite some time since I posted (more than a week!) and I felt like there was a piece of me missing. I didn't realize how blogging was such a part of my life and who I am until I didn't have the time to blog. School is the busiest it has ever been for me, and I can't seem to catch a break. 

Well today I finally have some free time, so I'll be doing mini reviews of the books I have recently read.


1) Dark Tide by Jennifer Donnelly
Dark Tide is the third book in Donnelly's Waterfire Saga, and the second to last book in the series. This series keeps getting better with each book. Each of the six main girls (Ava, Becca, Sera, Neela, Astrid, and Ling) are getting closer to the end, and are gaining in strength and wisdom. This series is chock-full of girl power in this book, and I absolutely love it. The strong friendships and lack of sexist ideals really makes this book for me. My only problem was that there were two romances introduced in the book, and though they were cute, they gave off an insta-love feel. Though it wasn't actually insta-love, there are only a couple scenes before the couples are completely enamored with each other, which made it feel like it was. Nevertheless, I completely recommend this fantasy series! 4.5 Stars

Mini Review #2

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be reviewing three recent reads that I want to share my thoughts on. However, I don't have enough to make a full review for each book so I'll just be doing mini reviews for each.

Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
Sinner is the last book in Stiefvater's Wolves of Mercy Falls series. Although Sam and Grace had a complete story arc in the first three books, the series continues with Isabel and Cole. I loved Isabel and Cole in the first three books, and was disheartened when they didn't get their happily ever after in Forever. Maybe it is because I have grown as a reader, but I didn't really enjoy this one. Both Isabel and Cole frustrated me and instead of rooting for them, I just wanted the book to wrap up. If you're a fan of the first three books but haven't read them in a while, I would say to just skip this one and be content with the ending of Forever.

Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armenntrout
Half Blood is the opening novel in Armentrout's Covenant series. If you've read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, you might see some similarities between the two. Both feature a protagonist that is half human with the other half being a superior species. Our protagonist also want to be in a relationship but isn't because they would be shunned. Though I had a lot of fun reading this book, I couldn't get over the striking similarities between the two. Alex also reminds me of Rose due to how similar they are physically and in personality. However, if you are looking for a fast paced read that doesn't require too much thought, I would recommend this. What it lacked in originality was made up for in its humor. I'm sure that the series improves as it progresses, so I will be continuing on with this series.

Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame
Did I Mention I Love You? (or DIMILY for short) is the first book in a contemporary trilogy by teenage author Estelle Maskame. This series is a wattpad sensation and has its roots there. The novel follows Eden as she spends the summer with her estranged father in California. Along the way, Eden slowly falls for her infuriating stepbrother Alex. This novel was pure fun and I started to really love the characters. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fast paced summer/spring read! I'm reading the sequel right now and cannot get enough of it. 
4.25 Stars

Currently Reading - Day 21, DIMILY (February 2016)

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be doing my monthly Currently Reading post. 

Right now I am reading 2 different books. I actually just finished reading two books yesterday, so these are really recent reads for me and I have not been able to get a feel for it yet. The first book that I am reading is Day 21. You might be unfamiliar with the title, but I know you recognize this cover! Day 21 is actually the second book of The 100 series  by Kass Morgan. I heard that Bellarke was canon in the series (unlike the TV show), and I am not ashamed to say that is the reason why I picked this book up. Yesterday I finished the first book, and I generally liked it! I'll be doing a series review once I finish this book and then Homecoming, the third and final one. Stay tuned!

Another book that I recently picked up was Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame. I actually have only read a couple pages of this, but I am thinking of getting into it tonight. I've heard amazing things about it, so hopefully I will not be disappointed! The novel follows Eden Munro as she stays with her estranged father for a summer. He has married another women who has three children, and lo and behold, Eden falls for one of her stepbrothers. Now who doesn't love that classic trope?


If I do not pick up Did I Mention I Love You? (which I would be surprised about), I'll be hopefully reading The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan. The Sword of Summer is the first book in Rick Riordan's new series following the Gods of Asgard. I don't know anything about Asgard gods except for Thor and Loki, so I am interested to see what I learn!
