Footnotes Link Up!

Hey everyone and welcome back (or to!) my blog! I'm Genni, and today I am participating in a new link up created by Ahsley G at [oddly novel title] and Emily at Ink, Inc. Basically every month they give out a different prompt and we share a quote fitting it! This is the first month it's starting, and I really like the idea of it!

So this month's prompt is: a quote from an author. 

Immediately I went to my goodread's quote page and see which ones I liked this best. I also discovered a new quote that I quite like, so yay! I have three quotes to share (sorry, I couldn't help myself) so let's get cracking! 

Okay, starting off with the first (and longest!) quote from We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han! 

I just...love this quote so much. Jenny Han's Summer trilogy is one of my favorites, and this quote really explains why. This quote is just so real. Jenny Han really encapsulates the feeling you get when you know something is over, and you don't want it to be. This series is very near and dear to my heart, and if you haven't read it, I implore you to do so! 

This is a quote from When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. I just love the book! It's so sweet and endearing, Rishi especially! I absolutely love this quote from When Dimple Met Rishi! Like We'll Always Have Summer, I urge you to read When Dimple Met Rishi. It's timely, diverse, and like a warm hug. 

And finally, this quote by Bernard M. Baruch! He's had several published works according to goodreads, but Bernarnd Baruch is more known for being an American financier, stock investor, philanthropist, statesman, and political consultant, according to Wikipedia. Whatever profession he had, I love this piece of advise. It's so hard to be yourself sometimes, and I think this quote is good to keep in mind!

May 2017 Wrap Up!

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'll be wrapping up my May! I managed to read some really good books, but certainly not many as I hoped. Considering today is my last day of high school (YAY!!!), I have high hopes for all the books I am going to read this June. 

Here are the books I read in May, from worst to best (in my opinion!)

 7) Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
Ruby Red wasn't necessarily bad, but I didn't really like it either.  The book is the first in a series, and even though I can't say I enjoyed myself listening to this one, I did continue on. I hope to finish the series this June!

6) Click Date Repeat Again by K.J. Farnham
Click Date Repeat Again, much like Ruby Red, wasn't bad or good. I had a really hard time getting into the story and connecting with the characters. However, the last fifth of the book was done so well and almost made up for the lackluster beginning and middle. 
  5) Saphhire Blue by Kersin Gier
Sapphire Blue is the sequel to Ruby Red, and I liked it so much more. If you didn't know, the series follows Gwenyth, a sixteen year old girl who learns she can time travel. I found her extremely grating and juvenile in the first book, but she really stepped up in this one. Emerald Green is the last book, and I can't wait to finish the series!
 
4) Atlantis Rising by Gloria Craw
I actually received Atlantis Rising from Netgalley in exhange for an honest review, so in the next week you'll be seeing my review. Here's a bit of a spoiler about my feelings: I really enjoyed this! It isn't the best thing out there, but I loved how originial the plot was. I thought this would be a run of the mill paranormal YA, but it wasn't. 
  
3) Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger
Follow Me Back is an upcoming YA psychological thriller that is coming out on June 6! This was the last book I read in May, and I really ended with a bang. I had no expectations going into Follow Me Back except for knowing that the ending is wonderful. Let's just say that the rumors were true; the ending was fantastic and the book as a whole was as well. 
 
2) Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han
It was really hard to discern which book would get the top pick out of these two. Always and Forever, Lara Jean is the final book in one of my favorite YA contemporary series, and it didn't disappoint. Jenny Han has this way of writing that just speaks to me, and Always and Forever was no exception. You can read more of my thoughts here in my review. 
 
1) Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare


Last but obviously not least is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. This book wrecked me. I already was spoiled for a good bit of it, and I still was sobbing by the end. This was such a perfect end to the trilogy, and I can't wait to learn more about the Shadowhunter world. Clare outdid herself with this one. 

So those were the 7 books I read this month! I am currently reading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare and will then move on to who knows what!

Friday 56 and Book Beginnings! No. 6

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I am participating in Friday 56 and Book Beginnings. They are hosted by Freda's Voice and Rose City Reader, respectively. 

The rules are simple for both. For the Friday 56, we turn to page 56 or 56% in our e-reader and highlight a passage of any book! Book Beginnings is where you feature the first sentence (or so) of a book and give your thoughts and impressions.

Also, I am pretty much the absolute worst for consistently posting with these weekly memes! It has been quite a while since I've done one and I am hoping that this will be a regular meme on this blog. :)

Friday 56

This quote comes from page 56 of City of Heavenly Fire! I know what this is referring to, but I know it probably makes no sense to people who aren't familiar with the Shadowhunter world! There was a quote later on in the page, but it was definitely a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read the five books prior! Nevertheless, I am about to start reading City of Heavenly Fire. I just have to finish Forever and Always, Lara Jean by Jenny Han first. 

Book Beginnings

Talking  about Forever and Always, Lara Jean, I used the first sentence of the book! Forever and Always is the last (?) book in Jenny Han's Lara Jean trilogy. The question mark is there because To All the Boys I've Loved Before, the first book, was supposed to be a standalone. Then it got a sequel, P.S. I Still Love You, and that was supposed to be the conclusion. Now we have this final book, which is my current read! I am currently loving it; I am able to connect with Lara Jean so much more than the other books this time around as Forever and Always follows Lara in her senior year. She has made so much growth since the first book and I just love the book and the atmosphere it provides and I could go on and on.
