10.) Untouched by Luna Black
I was on a wattpad kick, and Untouched was a story I stumbled upon late in the night that I read in less than day. At first, Untouched had so much promise but it was strung out for too long and I started hating the characters. Unfortunately, the book just fell short and was lackluster.
9.) The Bad Boys Saw Me Naked
I had the opposite issues with The Bad Boys Saw Me Naked in contrast to Untouched. This story was way too rushed and I never connected with the characters. This was just another run of the mill contemporary on the wattpad app that didn't stand out to me at all.
8.) Together With You by Victoria Bylin
Together With You was a book I just randomly got from my online local library. I want to venture out into more genres this year instead of strictly staying to YA. This was my first attempt at doing so! Together With You is an adult clean romance novel. However, I got more than I signed up for after religion became a major aspect of the book around a fourth of the way through. As a person who doesn't really like reading books that have a strong focus on religion, I was thrown off.
7.) V-Card by Alicia Michaels
V-Card surprised me so much. As you can tell, I was on a bit of a wattpad kick this month. This novel took me by surprise because it was much deeper than the title allows the reader to think it will be. I thought the story was just going to be your average college NA novel of a girl who doesn't know she's beautiful who is still a virgin. V-Card is much more poignant than that, and touches on a lot of deeper subjects, which I found refreshing.
6.) Stop! by Alison G. Bailey
I had the opportunity to read this book through one of my goodreads groups, and I am so thankful I did. The plot is about Hollis Murphy and her first year in college as she navigates her anxiety (due to her severe burns from an accident), boys, and a weird roomate. This book got a lot deeper than I expected, and I really appreciated it.
5.) True by Erin McCarthy
I didn't realize I was expecting so much from True until I finished it. Unfortunately, I really wanted to love this book and I didn't. Granted, it was a fun read and I would recommend it, but it didn't grab me like I wanted it to.
4.) Be With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Be With Me edged onto my fourth spot this week. There is a great adictiveness to Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing that makes me read and read until I'm done with the book. Though I really liked this story, there was something holding me back from loving it.
3.) Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths Little
This novel actually surprised me! I hadn't heard too much about it before reading it, and was pleasantly surprised. I did have some issues with the book as far as pacing goes and some of the narrative, but it was a refreshing historical fiction tale. Forbidden was a breath of fresh air for me because I normally never read historical fiction. If you want to know more about my thoughts, check out my review here!
2.) The Dead List by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Dead List was a thriller novel with Psycho-esque vibes. While many criticize its lack of originality, I did not mind. I normally don't read too many thrillers or horror books, and the same goes with the movie genre as well. There were some aspects that I really loved, but some fell flat. You can read more of my thoughts here!
1.) Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Their Fractured Light is by far the best book I have read this month. I had high hopes for this conclusion to the Starbound trilogy, as it is one of my favorite YA science fiction series out there. This did not disappoint in the slightest. I loved how everything became interconnected and the last 150 or so pages kept my heart racing and my fingers flipping through the pages as fast as they could. You can read my glowing review here.
